Dudley Engineering provided structural engineering services for A Brush Above (https://www.abas.build/), for the new College Station Hyundai dealership. The dealership was comprised of a combination of structural steel frame and tilt up construction for the primary structural system and cold-formed steel studs and joists for the secondary framing.
For a description of the tilt up construction structural system reference Tilt Up.
Due to their unique programming requirements which typically consists of retail/sales/hospitality in the front of the facility with mechanic shops in the rear, auto dealerships often exhibit varying structural systems. For example, the front sections which require ample natural daylight and large clear spans lends itself to structural steel framing systems, while the rear mechanic areas need the security, durability and clear spanning capability of a tilt up system.
