Dudley Engineering working under The Arkitex Studio serving as the structural engineer for the renovation of an existing bookstore into the new alumni center for Sam Houston State University.
The renovation included a new vestibule, new opening in the existing metal building shell and full renovation of the interior space.
Challenges
Some of the challenges included verifying the existing metal building system for which the original construction documents were not available and designing the new vestibule to not oscillate under service wind loads due to its tall cantilevering structure.
